Chocolatier
A downloadable game
This is a one-page story telling game meant to be enjoyed with friends over a box of chocolates. (Note: this is not an RPG.)
The idea started with a hashtag. #GameAssumptions was started by Daniel Solis, with inspiration from Rob Daviau. It was a lively discussion and it set my mind spinning with possibilities. One of my contributions was:
@worldnamer #GameAssumptions The game is meant to be played more than once, and doing so is a nondestructive process.
Growing up as an army brat, my formative years were made of impermanence. I learned to concentrate on experiences over things, mostly out of necessity. I wanted to challenge this game assumption by making a game that is intentionally impermanent. Where the only thing left at the end of the game was the experience of having played it.
Add to the mix a mild synesthesia I’ve always had trouble explaining. Most of my senses cross over one way or another into touch, to various degrees. I’ve tried to capture what it’s like to have a sensation spark something inside me that I’m unable to share. Of experiences which I can’t relate, because there are no analogues.
I hope this game catches your imagination and that you find your own personal chocolatier. If it does not, then I hope that you at least enjoy the chocolates.
